CDBG allocations and CSC role

The CSC commissioner said he was the only commissioner to vote no on the recommendations, arguing the process shut out commissioners and service providers, and asked the council not to cancel the next funding cycle and to involve commissioners in agency oversight.

The CSC vice chair thanked the council for handling a tough budget year, supported the community needs assessment, asked that fire equipment not become a recurring CDBG use, and hoped to restore agency funding soon.

The CSC chair said commissioners felt sidelined when the competitive funding process was canceled, asked for clearer guidance from the council on the commission's future role, and urged preserving community participation in future CDBG decisions.
